The Narcotics Directorate (Ditresnarkoba) of Polda Metro Jaya has revealed the six most prominent cases uncovered during the period of January to June 2026. During a press conference at the Metro Jaya Meeting Hall in Jakarta on Friday, the Director of Narcotics for Polda Metro Jaya, Senior Commissioner Ahmad David, detailed a number of significant drug busts that had caught public attention. “First, the case of a Clandestine Lab for Etomidate Vape (a Class II Narcotic) which was dismantled at three apartment locations in Jakarta, resulting in the arrest of eight suspects,” said David. He explained the perpetrators’ modus operandi involved disguising their residential apartments as production rooms. Police seized evidence consisting of 2,807 vape cartridges, 3.2 kilogrammes of etomidate powder, and 27,730 millilitres of etomidate liquid, which had the potential to produce 450,000 cartridges. The second prominent case was a clandestine laboratory producing koplo pills under the guise of an animal feed warehouse, based in two locations, namely Semarang and Jakarta. “Four suspects, who acted as financiers and mixers, were arrested along with evidence of 308,000 carisoprodol pills and 2.587 tonnes of precursors. The perpetrators deceived local residents by disguising the production site as an animal feed warehouse,” David stated. The third case involved the uncovering of a home-based ecstasy industry in a Jakarta apartment controlled by a Chinese network. “We secured one location and arrested two suspects. The first acted as the provider of precursor materials, facilities, and production equipment, and the second assisted in pressing or making the ecstasy-type narcotics. The amount of evidence we seized includes 653 ready-to-distribute ecstasy pills and 16,695 grammes of ecstasy powder,” David explained. The fourth case was the disclosure of a methamphetamine network. “This was across six locations with the arrest of 15 suspects, both as dealers and couriers, with a total evidence weight of 108.37 kilogrammes,” said David. The fifth case was the uncovering of dangerous hard drugs including tramadol, heximer, trihexyphenidyl, alprazolam, dextro, xanax, and mersi. “The perpetrators used the modus operandi of manipulating and camouflaging cosmetic shops and roadside grocery stores to sell dangerous prescription drugs,” David stated. The sixth case was the disclosure of a marijuana syndicate operating a Medan-Jakarta network across 16 locations. “We arrested 28 suspects, both dealers and couriers, with a total of 220 kilogrammes of evidence seized,” David revealed. He affirmed that the Polda Metro Jaya Narcotics Directorate is strongly committed to carrying out sustainable law enforcement against perpetrators of illicit drug trafficking and abuse, as a form of consistent effort to fortify the nation’s children from the dangers of narcotics.
