Polda Metro Jaya Responds as Roy Suryo Files Pretrial Motion
Roy Suryo has once again filed a pretrial motion as a suspect in the alleged defamation case regarding the diplomas of Indonesia’s 7th President, Joko Widodo. Polda Metro Jaya respects the filing of the lawsuit as one of the suspect’s rights.
Roy Suryo has now filed two pretrial motions in the diploma case. The first motion challenged the legality of the forced search effort. This lawsuit was filed by Roy on Monday (22/6) with case registration number 99/Pid.Pra/2026/PN JKT.SEL. This motion is being adjudicated by sole judge I Ketut Darpawan. Respondent I is the Government of the Republic of Indonesia cq the Metro Jaya Police Chief cq the Director of General Criminal Investigation of Polda Metro Jaya cq the Head of Sub-Directorate for State Security cq the investigation team, while Respondent II is the Government of the Republic of Indonesia cq the Attorney General of the Republic of Indonesia cq the Deputy Attorney General for General Crimes at the Attorney General’s Office cq the Head of the High Prosecutor’s Office for DKI Jakarta. The trial process for this pretrial motion has reached the conclusion stage. The judge will read the verdict for this pretrial motion on Tuesday (7/7).
Subsequently, Roy filed another pretrial motion. This time it concerns his status as a suspect in the Jokowi diploma defamation case. “Case classification: the legality of the forced effort to designate a suspect,” as stated on the South Jakarta District Court’s Case Tracking Information System (SIPP) page seen by detikcom on Friday (3/7/2026). Roy’s pretrial motion is registered under case number 108/Pid.Pra/2026/PN JKT.SEL. Roy registered it on Thursday (2/7) at the South Jakarta District Court. This lawsuit will be adjudicated by sole judge I Ketut Darpawan. Respondent I in this lawsuit is the Metro Jaya Police Chief cq the Director of General Criminal Investigation of Polda Metro Jaya cq the Head of Sub-Directorate for State Security cq the investigation team, while Respondent II is the High Prosecutor’s Office for DKI Jakarta cq the Assistant for General Crimes at the High Prosecutor’s Office for DKI Jakarta cq the South Jakarta District Prosecutor’s Office cq the public prosecutor team. The petition for Roy’s request in this pretrial motion has not yet appeared on the SIPP page of the South Jakarta District Court. The first hearing will be held on Friday (10/7). “Agenda: reading of the petition,” wrote the SIPP of the South Jakarta District Court.
Polda Metro Jaya responded to the pretrial motion filed by Roy Suryo. Polda Metro is ready to face the lawsuit. “We are ready to attend to serve this petition,” said the Head of Legal Affairs of Polda Metro Jaya, Commissioner Abrianto Pardede, when asked for confirmation on Saturday (4/7/2026). Commissioner Abrianto stated that Polda Metro has no issue with the filing of this pretrial motion. He said everyone has the right to file a pretrial motion. “It’s fine, we know that a pretrial motion is the right of a person who feels their rights have been violated or harmed by the arbitrary actions of law enforcement officers,” said Commissioner Abrianto. He said the pretrial motion letter regarding Roy’s suspect designation has not yet been received. However, he stressed that Polda Metro is ready to face it. “We will see when the pretrial letter arrives at the address. We from the Legal Affairs Division of Polda Metro Jaya are always ready to serve that pretrial motion,” he said.
