Polda Metro Jaya Launches 'Berantas Jaya' Operation Targeting Vehicle Theft

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Metro Jaya Regional Police have held a readiness assembly for the ‘Berantas Jaya 2026’ regional police operation, which is focused on suppressing the rate of motor vehicle theft (curanmor).

The Deputy Chief of Metro Jaya Police, Brigadier General Pol Dekananto Eko Purwono, explained that this regional operation will take place for 15 days, running from 4 July to 18 July 2026.

“The Berantas Jaya 2026 operation must be carried out seriously, purposefully, and in a measurable manner. The established targets must be pursued to the maximum, particularly in uncovering vehicle theft cases,” he said while leading the assembly at the Metro Jaya Police Assembly Field, Jakarta, on Friday.

Dekananto explained that for this operation, the Metro Jaya Police are deploying 520 personnel. This number consists of a combination of 247 personnel from the Regional Operation Task Force (Satgasopsda) and 273 personnel from the Resort Operation Task Force (Satgasopsres).

He added that the implementation of this operation involves all levels, from the Regional Police (Polda) and District Police (Polres) to the Sector Police (Polsek) in an integrated manner. Daily evaluations and analyses will be continuously conducted to strengthen the exposure of vehicle theft networks that frequently operate across different regions.

On the other hand, Dekananto also reminded all personnel on duty in the field to always adhere to standard operating procedures (SOP) and not to ignore safety factors.

“Every action in the field must be carried out in a measurable, integrated, and procedural manner. The safety of personnel must remain the primary concern,” he stated.

Through this operation, the Metro Jaya Police are simultaneously urging the public to increase vigilance in protecting personal assets.

“Citizens are expected to ensure that vehicles are properly locked, use additional security locks, and utilise the 110 police service if they witness suspicious activities,” said Dekananto.
