Polda Metro Jaya Investigates Information on Tramadol Distribution in Central Jakarta

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Narcotics Investigation Directorate of Polda Metro Jaya is investigating information circulating on social media regarding a plan to distribute the hard drug Tramadol to groups that will hold a demonstration in the Tanah Abang area, Central Jakarta. The Director of Narcotics Investigation at Polda Metro Jaya, Senior Commissioner Ahmad David, stated that the police will move to verify the truth of the news in order to prevent the circulation of illegal drugs. “We will investigate immediately,” said Ahmad when confirmed in Jakarta on Monday. Ahmad emphasised that police personnel will be deployed to conduct sweeps at several points and routes strongly suspected of being the Tramadol distribution routes. Previously, a post circulated on the social media platform Instagram via the account @badanperwakilannetizen2 regarding information about an alleged plan for an organised supply of Tramadol targeting the Tanah Abang area. The account wrote that in the near future, there are elements of the authorities who will distribute Tramadol to a group to cause a riot at a demonstration that should be peaceful. The account’s post also included the Tramadol distribution route.
