Polda Metro Jaya Inaugurates 35 Liveable Homes
Polda Metro Jaya has inaugurated 35 liveable homes through the Bedah Rumah Kemerdekaan (Independence Home Renovation) Programme. The home renovation initiative is part of the series of events marking the 81st anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia.
Metro Jaya Police Chief Commissioner General Asep Edi Suheri stated that the inauguration was not merely ceremonial, but a follow-up to the directive of National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, reflecting the police force’s commitment to being more present for the community and delivering programmes that provide direct benefits to residents.
The renovated homes were symbolically inaugurated by Commissioner General Asep Edi Suheri at one of the beneficiary homes in Pondok Ranggon, Cipayung, East Jakarta, on Friday (21/8/2026).
“This programme is a programme from the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Mr Prabowo, regarding the provision of liveable housing. It is also a commitment from the National Police Chief to be present in the community and provide improvements for the people,” said Commissioner General Asep Edi.
A total of 35 homes have been fully renovated and are ready for occupancy, spread across 12 police jurisdictions under Polda Metro Jaya. The breakdown is as follows: Central Jakarta (3 homes), North Jakarta (3 homes), West Jakarta (3 homes), South Jakarta (3 homes), East Jakarta (4 homes), Tangerang City (3 homes), Bekasi City (4 homes), Bekasi Regency (3 homes), Depok (3 homes), Tanjung Priok Port (1 home), Thousand Islands (1 home), and South Tangerang (4 homes).
The police chief expressed hope that the renovated homes would provide long-term benefits for the recipient families. He also conveyed his appreciation to the district police chiefs, partners, and all parties involved from the data collection stage through to the completion of the renovations.
“Hopefully these homes will be beneficial and bring blessings to all of you. Please take care of them and maintain them. This is a form of attention to the community so that they can obtain homes that are fit for habitation,” said Commissioner General Asep Edi.
Meanwhile, Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya, Police Commissioner Budi Hermanto, said that the Bedah Rumah Kemerdekaan Programme carries the message that independence commemorations do not stop at ceremony, but are also realised through benefits that can be directly felt by the community.
“Independence must be present in people’s lives. A liveable home is not merely a building, but a space for families to live more safely and comfortably, to raise their families, and to plan for a better future,” said Commissioner Budi Hermanto.
According to him, the programme also reflects the police force’s service, which is present not only through its duty to maintain security and order, but also through concern for the community’s social needs.
“The police are present not only when the community needs a sense of security, but also through care that provides tangible benefits. This is the spirit we continue to uphold in providing service and devotion to the community. The police are present as guardians of life, builders of civilisation, and fighters for humanity,” concluded Budi Hermanto.
