Jakarta (ANTARA) - Polda Metro Jaya held a legal seminar entitled “The Expansion of Pre-Trial Objects Based on Law Number 20 of 2025 on the Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP)” in South Jakarta on Wednesday.

Deputy Chief of Polda Metro Jaya, Brigadier General Dekananto Eko Purwono, said the seminar formed part of efforts to build the capacity of personnel in understanding the fundamental changes set out in the new Criminal Procedure Code.

“Understanding of criminal procedure law must be continuously updated in step with regulatory developments,” said Dekananto in Jakarta on Wednesday.

He emphasised the importance of improving the quality of human resources in law enforcement so that every police action has a solid and accountable legal basis.

“At each stage of law enforcement, there are many matters that our members should master more deeply. Arrests, detentions, searches, and other stages must be understood substantively,” Dekananto explained.

“The aim is to understand the changes regarding the expansion of pre-trial objects, examine the involvement of victims, complainants, legal counsel and family in filing pre-trial applications, and align the understanding of academics, judges and investigators,” explained Abrianto.

The seminar featured several speakers, among them Dr. Muhammad Khairul Anam, Dr. Albert Aries and Prof. Dr. Jamin Ginting, with Dr. Lucia Sulastri serving as moderator.

Through presentations and question-and-answer sessions, participants explored the various implications of implementing the new Criminal Procedure Code, particularly with regard to pre-trial mechanisms.
