Polda Metro Jaya Guarded by Armed Brimob Ahead of Press Conference on Three Corruption Cases

Security has been tightened at the Promoter Building of Polda Metro Jaya ahead of a press conference on the progress of investigations into three alleged corruption and money laundering (TPPU) cases on Friday afternoon, 10 July 2026. Monitoring at the location showed Mobile Brigade (Brimob) personnel armed with long-barrelled weapons stationed at several strategic points around the Promoter Building. Security was implemented from the access points to the area where the press conference is being held. A number of officers were seen guarding every entrance, while other personnel were observed moving about to coordinate and prepare ahead of the press conference. The presence of fully armed officers drew the attention of journalists who had been at the location since the afternoon. In addition to tightening security around the building, police also secured the area where evidence from searches will be presented to the public. The evidence began to be arranged before the press conference commenced as part of the presentation on the investigation’s progress. The press conference is being led directly by the Head of the Police’s Corruption Eradication Corps (Kakortastipidkor), Inspector General Totok Suharyanto, who is the main speaker in delivering the progress of the three cases. Several other figures were also present at the evening press conference, including the Head of the Police Public Relations Division, Inspector General Johnny Edizzon Isir; the Head of Public Information Bureau of the Police Public Relations Division, Brigadier General Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko; the Director of Action at the Police’s Corruption Eradication Corps, Brigadier General Robertus Yohanes De Deo; the Director of Special Criminal Investigation at Polda Metro Jaya, Senior Commissioner Victor Dean Mackbon; the Deputy for Coordination and Supervision at the KPK, Ely Kusumastuti; and the Deputy for Enforcement at the KPK, Brigadier General Asep Guntur Rahayu. The presence of officials from the Police and the KPK demonstrates that the cases are being handled through inter-agency coordination. The press conference was held to convey the progress of investigations into three cases currently being handled by a joint team from the Police’s Corruption Eradication Corps and the Special Criminal Investigation Directorate of Polda Metro Jaya. The three cases include alleged corruption in the supply of coal to PT PLN, which is suspected to be linked to a blackout event; a case related to PT Asabri; and alleged money laundering in the settlement of PT CBS’s debt to PT KNI, which is connected to PT Krakatau Steel.
