Polda Metro Jaya Guarantees Rights of Suspects Roy Suryo and Dr Tifa Are Protected
Polda Metro Jaya has stated that the arrest of suspects Roy Suryo and Dr Tifa was carried out because the case file regarding allegations of a fake diploma belonging to Indonesia’s 7th President, Joko Widodo (Jokowi), has been declared complete, or P21. Polda Metro Jaya has assured that the rights and obligations of the suspects will be protected.
“We ensure that investigators will guarantee the rights and obligations of the suspects are protected in accordance with the law,” said the Director of General Criminal Investigation at Polda Metro Jaya, Senior Commissioner Iman Imanuddin, during a press conference at Polda Metro Jaya, Jakarta, on Friday (19/6/2026).
Iman explained that investigators will adhere to the Criminal Procedure Code regarding physical examinations and evidence. Investigators, Iman said, will also act in accordance with standard operating procedures for investigations.
“Examinations, both physical and mental, the transfer process, the responsibility of the suspects and evidence, investigators will always be guided by the Criminal Procedure Code as well as standard operating procedures in the investigation process,” he stated.
Polda Metro Jaya has no objection if Roy Suryo and Dr Tifa wish to file a pretrial motion. This, he said, is as regulated in the Criminal Procedure Code.
“In order to ensure balance and control over the ongoing investigation, the Criminal Procedure Code has provided for pretrial motions, therefore the suspects, their families, or their legal counsel may use the control and testing mechanism regulated in the Criminal Procedure Code,” he said.
Polda Metro Jaya previously stated that the case file for the fake diploma allegations against Indonesia’s 7th President Joko Widodo, which implicates Roy Suryo and Tifauziah Tyassuma, also known as Dr Tifa, is now complete, or P21. Both will soon be brought to trial.
“Alhamdulillah, as of today the prosecutor has declared that the case file we sent to the DKI Jakarta High Prosecutor’s Office no longer requires the fulfilment of the deficiencies we previously addressed,” explained the Director of General Criminal Investigation at Polda Metro Jaya, Senior Commissioner Iman Imanuddin, to reporters at Polda Metro Jaya on Tuesday (2/6).
“Therefore, we are currently coordinating to transfer the responsibility for the evidence and the suspects,” he continued.
In this case of allegations of Jokowi’s fake diploma, Polda Metro Jaya has named a total of eight people as suspects. Polda Metro Jaya has issued a warrant to terminate the investigation for three suspects.
The three suspects whose investigation process has been halted are Eggi Sudjana, Damai Hari Lubis, and Rismon Sianipar.
Meanwhile, the five other suspects have chosen to continue with the case. There are two clusters of suspects in this case.
The suspects in the first cluster are Kurnia Tri Royani, Rizal Fadilah, and Rustam Effendi. Meanwhile, the second cluster includes suspects Roy Suryo and Tifauziah Tyassuma, or Dr Tifa.
