Polda Metro Jaya examines nine influencers in Hanania Group umrah fraud case

The Directorate of General Criminal Investigation of Polda Metro Jaya has been conducting a marathon examination of nine influencers suspected of being involved in promoting or receiving endorsements from the umrah travel agency Hanania Travel. “To date, six influencers have been examined. In total, including those scheduled to appear tomorrow, the number is nine individuals. This investigation will continue to develop,” said Polda Metro Jaya Public Relations Subdivision Head Kompol Andaru Rahutomo on Thursday. Andaru explained that the examination of these public figures is based on their involvement in the promotional scheme carried out by Hanania Travel. “Most of them received free umrah pilgrimage facilities in exchange for exposure on their respective social media. However, we also found that cash allowances in varying amounts were given to these influencers,” he said. In the course of the examination, one influencer with the initials AS cooperatively returned a cash allowance worth tens of millions of rupiah to the police. “AS had the intention of returning the money he received, amounting to IDR 30 million, to investigators, and the money has now been seized by investigators as evidence to be included in the case file,” Andaru stated. Andaru also added that the examinations have been conducted in stages since the beginning of the week. On Monday, investigators examined an influencer with the initials KA for six hours. Subsequently, on Wednesday, three influencers with the initials MTH, AM, and AS also completed their examinations. However, police regretted that two witnesses failed to appear at the first summons without confirmation, namely KN and FBI. A second summons will soon be issued for both. Meanwhile, for Thursday’s examinations, investigators examined an influencer with the initials PT and accelerated the examination of PV, who was originally scheduled for Friday. “For tomorrow’s agenda, Friday, there are five witnesses who will be examined at around 10.00 WIB. Some of them are rescheduled from last Monday, namely RD, CM, SG, DA, and AJ,” he said.
