Polda Metro Jaya Ensures Seized Drug Evidence is Destroyed
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Narcotics Investigation Directorate of the Metro Jaya Regional Police has ensured that a quantity of seized drug evidence has been destroyed, with none embezzled, lost, or withheld.
“We conduct the destruction process through a press conference with the aim that the Metro Jaya Regional Police provides transparency, accountability, and public responsibility, as well as a strong commitment from the police apparatus in eradicating drug trafficking and abuse crimes,” said the Head of the Narcotics Investigation Directorate of the Metro Jaya Regional Police, Senior Commissioner Pol. Ahmad David, during a press conference in Jakarta on Wednesday.
David also emphasised that the destruction of drug evidence applies principles of openness. Before the evidence is destroyed, recording, recounting, and reweighing are carried out, witnessed by the supervisory inspectorate, Propam (Professional and Security Division), and investigators.
“Then, authenticity tests of the evidence will be conducted to determine if it is drugs or not, carried out by the National Police Forensic Laboratory,” he said.
The destruction is also carried out in accordance with statutory regulations, directly witnessed by investigators, the prosecutor’s office, the court, the National Agency of Drug and Food Control (BPOM), and the public represented by the Geram and Granat mass organisations.
He added that all series of activities will be documented in the form of videos and photos.
The Narcotics Investigation Directorate of the Metro Jaya Regional Police successfully seized 712 kilograms (kg) of various types of narcotics from case revelations during the period of January to March 2026.
The seized drug evidence includes 115.84 kg of methamphetamine (sabu), 275.92 kg of cannabis, 19.69 kg of ecstasy powder, 7.63 kg of synthetic tobacco, 4.5 kg of synthetic seed powder, 16.02 kg of ketamine, and 1.02 kg of cocaine.
“Then there are 26,593 ecstasy pills, 873,950 dangerous drug pills, 11,000 vape cartridges containing etomidate, 5,070 heavy five pills, and 96 packets of heavy water,” said David.
