Polda Metro Jaya Deploys 8,095 Personnel to Secure Public Activities
Polda Metro Jaya has prepared services and security for a number of public activities taking place within its jurisdiction on Friday (14/8). This measure is intended to ensure all activities proceed safely, orderly, and smoothly.
The activities being secured include events in the Senayan area, RI Fest in Gambir, and the National Scout Jamboree in East Jakarta. In addition, the police are also securing several public demonstrations.
Polda Metro Jaya’s Head of Public Relations, Commissioner Budi Hermanto, said that personnel deployment is adjusted according to the characteristics of each activity, potential vulnerabilities, and security requirements at each location. According to him, this adjustment is made to ensure effective security.
“Polda Metro Jaya has prepared personnel to provide services and security. All personnel are directed to prioritise a persuasive and humane approach so that public activities can proceed safely and orderly,” he said in a written statement on Friday (14/8).
Specifically for securing activities in the Senayan area, Polda Metro Jaya has prepared 8,095 joint personnel. This number comprises elements from the police, the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), and the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government.
The joint personnel consist of 800 personnel from the National Police Headquarters, 4,230 personnel from Polda Metro Jaya, and 1,163 personnel from subordinate district police. In addition, there are 1,850 TNI personnel and 52 personnel from the Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP), the Transportation Agency, the Health Agency, and the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government’s fire department.
Security is being implemented in layers, prioritising pre-emptive and preventive measures. Law enforcement will be carried out if necessary, according to the situation encountered in the field.
All personnel involved in the security operation have also been directed not to carry firearms. This rule applies at all activity locations secured today.
In addition to preparing personnel, the police have also prepared traffic management and engineering measures that will be implemented situationally. This arrangement takes into account the development of vehicle flow in the field.
Traffic diversion will only be carried out if necessary to maintain the smooth mobility of the public. Officers will adjust these measures according to the density conditions that occur.
“We urge members of the public who will be active around Senayan, Jalan Gatot Subroto, Palmerah, and the DPR/MPR RI area to account for travel time and follow officers’ directions if congestion increases,” said Budi.
Polda Metro Jaya invites the public to remain calm and carry out their activities as usual while these events take place. The police also invite the public to jointly maintain security and order.
Members of the public who need police assistance can contact the National Police Call Center at 110. This service is on standby to respond to public needs during the security operation.
