Polda Metro Jaya Confirms Object on Drone in Depok Was Not Explosive

Jakarta Metropolitan Police have confirmed that a suspicious object found attached to an unmanned aerial vehicle (drone) in the Depok area of West Java was not an active explosive. Head of Public Relations for Jakarta Metropolitan Police, Senior Commissioner Budi Hermanto, stated that a crime scene investigation and intensive handling by the Brimob Gegana Team and the Inafis Team determined the object was merely a replica resembling a grenade. The incident began with a public report about a suspicious object attached to a drone. Responding to the report, police officers immediately secured the location by installing a police line to sterilise the area before the Gegana Team arrived. Although laboratory results confirmed the object posed no physical danger, police are not halting their investigation. Budi emphasised that further inquiries are being conducted to uncover the motive behind the act and the origin of the drone. Information gathered indicates the incident targeted a lawyer named Novianus Martin Bau at his residence in the Pondok Petir area of Depok City. Novianus explained that the drone suddenly fell into his yard, and upon inspection, a grenade-like object was found attached to it along with a written message reading: ‘This is just the beginning’. The victim suspects the act is closely related to several legal cases he is currently handling, one of which is a land dispute concerning Arjuna HyperBowling. Novianus has officially reported the alleged criminal threatening to the Depok Metro Police.
