Polda Metro Jaya arrests suspect in Tangerang murder-rape case

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Criminal Investigation Directorate of Polda Metro Jaya has arrested a perpetrator involved in a murder and rape case that occurred at a rented house in the Benda subdistrict, Tangerang City, on Tuesday.

Head of the Jatanras Sub-directorate at Polda Metro Jaya, AKBP Abdul Rahim, confirmed the arrest and stated that the investigative team managed to secure the suspect within 24 hours of the incident. "We are currently conducting further investigations and exploring the suspect’s motive against the victim," he said in a statement in Jakarta on Tuesday.

Abdul mentioned that his party is carrying out intensive examinations of the suspect to gather evidence and piece together the complete chronology of the event.

Meanwhile, Head of Public Relations for Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Pol Budi Hermanto, confirmed the arrest and stated that a man with the initials KF had been detained on suspicion of murdering and raping a female victim with the initials SNA in the Benda area of Tangerang City. "Currently, the suspected perpetrator has been taken to the Jatanras Sub-directorate of the Polda Metro Jaya Criminal Investigation Directorate for further examination. Investigators are still exploring the motive, the full chronology, and the sequence of events in this case," he said.

He added that further developments would be communicated once the examination process is underway.

Previously, a post circulated on the Instagram account @wargajakarta.id stating that a murder had occurred at a rented house in the Jurumudi area, Benda, Tangerang City, on Tuesday. The account also wrote that the woman, whose identity was initially unknown, was found dead with injuries to her head. "According to residents’ accounts, the woman, estimated to be around 20 years old, is suspected to be a murder victim," the account wrote.
