Polda Metro Jaya Arrests Meth and Ecstasy Dealer in West Jakarta
The Narcotics Investigation Directorate of Polda Metro Jaya has arrested a 37-year-old man, identified only by the initial N, suspected of dealing methamphetamine and ecstasy in the East Cengkareng area, Cengkareng, West Jakarta, on Thursday evening (11/6).
Head of Sub-Directorate 1 of the Polda Metro Jaya Narcotics Investigation Directorate, Kompol Indah Hartantiningrum, stated on Friday that the arrest successfully thwarted a drug distribution operation targeting teenagers using a Cash On Delivery (COD) modus operandi.
“This method has been used for the past three months, targeting teenagers via COD,” Indah said.
The case came to light following a public tip-off about drug abuse and trafficking activities in the East Cengkareng sub-district. Following up on the information, Unit 1 of Sub-Directorate 1 conducted an investigation, ultimately apprehending suspect N at his residence.
During a search of the suspect’s home, officers discovered evidence stored in separate locations. Methamphetamine was found hidden inside a wardrobe alongside a digital scale, while dozens of ecstasy pills were concealed in a clear white plastic box.
Indah explained that police also seized a digital scale, smoking apparatus, communication devices, and a lighter used to facilitate drug consumption.
To account for his actions, suspect N and all evidence have been taken to the Polda Metro Jaya Narcotics Investigation Directorate office for further investigation and case development.
Meanwhile, Polda Metro Jaya Head of Public Relations, Kombes Pol Budi Hermanto, stressed that eradicating drugs is a shared responsibility. “Even the smallest piece of information from the public is very useful for the police, starting from the immediate and surrounding environment for us to care together,” Budi said. He also urged residents to promptly report any potential disturbances to public security and order through the 24-hour Polri Call Centre 110.
