Polda Metro Jaya and Binus University Encourage Students to Use AI Wisely

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Jakarta Metropolitan Police (Polda Metro Jaya), in collaboration with Bina Nusantara University (Binus), is encouraging students to utilise artificial intelligence (AI) technology in a wise, positive, and productive manner.

The Head of Human Resources at Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Pol. Agus Nugroho, stated that the rapid development of AI presents significant opportunities to accelerate the learning process for students if explored correctly.

“AI can assist students in learning, searching for information, and developing creativity. We want them to be able to use it positively while also understanding its limitations and risks,” said Agus during a training session for 163 police personnel at the Binus Kijang Campus, Palmerah, West Jakarta, on Monday.

The ‘Paham AI’ (Understanding AI) programme, which follows a ‘training of trainers’ model, is designed to support high school, vocational, and Islamic high school students in Jakarta and its surrounding areas.

He explained that through this programme, students are encouraged to explore digital tools to support academic activities and self-development, without neglecting the principles of ethics, privacy, and responsibility in cyberspace.

Training participants were provided with technical material on AI usage, digital ethics, and the operation of the Senopati Academy platform as an interactive learning tool. BINUS serves as the academic partner, aligning the curriculum with the learning needs of the younger generation.

Stephen Wahyudi Santoso, President of BINUS Higher Education & Professional Services, noted that mastering AI skills from an early age is a vital asset for students to increase their competitiveness in the digital era.

Meanwhile, the Head of Public Relations at Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Pol. Buju Hermanto, added that following this training, personnel will be deployed directly to schools to guide students in becoming more proficient, critical, and capable of optimising AI technology safely.
