Polda Metro Confirms Roy-Tifa Case Handling Follows Legal Procedures
Polda Metro Jaya has confirmed that the handling of the case involving allegations of a fake diploma belonging to Indonesia’s 7th President, Joko Widodo (Jokowi), with suspects Roy Suryo and Tifauziah Tyassuma, has followed legal procedures. “So we reiterate, this legal process does not run on its own. It has gone through a series of stages starting from the reporting process, investigation, inquiry, to coercive measures, and the prosecutor’s decision that the case file has been declared complete or P21. Today we are conducting the second phase of transfer,” said Polda Metro Jaya Head of Public Relations, Commissioner Budi Hermanto, at Polda Metro Jaya on Monday (22/6). On the same occasion, Polda Metro Jaya Director of General Criminal Investigation, Commissioner Iman Imanuddin, also stressed that all stages, including the arrest and detention, were carried out in accordance with applicable legal processes. “All legal procedures regulated in the Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP) are of course our guidelines. So, we ensure that all stages carried out by investigators from the Ditreskrimum Polda Metro Jaya are in accordance with KUHAP procedures,” he added. Polda Metro Jaya arrested Roy Suryo and Tifa, who are suspects in the case of the Jokowi diploma allegations, on Friday (19/6) last week. Iman explained that the arrest of Roy and Tifa was part of the process of handing over the suspects and evidence from investigators to the DKI Jakarta High Prosecutor’s Office. This step was taken after the case file had been declared complete or P-21 by the prosecutor’s office. “Furthermore, to ensure the presence and whereabouts of the suspects during this transfer process of suspects and evidence runs smoothly, investigators must ensure the whereabouts and presence of the suspects,” Iman said on Friday. After being arrested, Roy and Tifa were taken to the Kramat Jati Police Hospital for a health examination. The examination results led doctors to recommend that both undergo inpatient care to ensure their health conditions remained stable. Then on Monday, Polda Metro Jaya carried out the second phase of transfer, handing over the evidence and suspects Roy Suryo and Dr Tifa to the South Jakarta District Prosecutor’s Office.
