Polda Metro: 29 Injured During Hotel Sultan Land Execution
Polda Metro Jaya reported that at least 29 people were injured during the execution of a land seizure at the Hotel Sultan site in the Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) complex, Central Jakarta, on Thursday (18/6) afternoon. Kabid Humas Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Budi Hermanto stated that the injured comprised police personnel, a TNI member, and civilians. “There are 29 injured personnel here, consisting of 26 police officers who sustained minor injuries from stones thrown by the masses occupying the execution area, one TNI member injured in the temple, and two civilians who were present during the execution,” Budi told reporters. He explained that the victims have already received medical treatment.
Budi outlined that the execution process involved several stages. First, the Central Jakarta District Court bailiff delivered the seizure order. This was followed by persuasive appeals to the people still at the site. After the appeals, space was given for negotiation. However, at that moment, the crowd in front of Hotel Sultan began throwing objects at the officers. “They threw stones and took actions that could disrupt public order and injure officers,” he said. Police have so far arrested 69 individuals who attempted to obstruct the execution process. “It must be emphasised that members of the public who try to hinder the enforcement of a court ruling are not only breaking the law but also violating the principle of res judicata pro veritate habetur, where a court decision is considered the most correct and binding,” he stated.
Meanwhile, Chandra M Hamzah, the legal representative for the Gelora Bung Karno Complex Management Centre (PPKGBK), said that the process of vacating the hotel is underway after the crowd that blocked the execution was successfully bypassed. “Today, 18 June 2026, the Central Jakarta District Court has carried out a real execution of the eviction, in connection with the court’s ruling on the area known as Blok 15, the former Hotel Sultan,” Chandra told reporters at the location. The execution process involved security support from a joint force of 3,161 personnel from the TNI, Polri, and local government. The situation briefly turned chaotic as the resisting crowd threw objects at the executors and the security line, but the resistance was eventually subdued. A total of 69 people have been detained by the police as a result of the unrest.
