Central Papua Regional Police states that the addition of security personnel in Dogiyai Regency will be evaluated periodically every week to ensure the effectiveness of security measures post-conflict in the area. Deputy Chief of Central Papua Police, Senior Commissioner Pol. Gustav R. Urbinas, in Nabire on Wednesday, said the evaluation is being conducted over the first month as a basis for determining subsequent security strategies. “We hope the additional personnel in Dogiyai will be able to guarantee future security conditions. We will review this until the first month,” he stated. “We do not want the situation to stabilise and then the personnel are withdrawn, only for security disturbances to re-emerge. That is not what we hope for,” he added. According to him, his side continues to coordinate with the local government to support police efforts in creating conducive security and public order conditions. In addition, the police are also preparing a comprehensive security strategy by considering various aspects to strengthen long-term stability in Dogiyai. To bolster security, National Police Headquarters has dispatched assistance of 148 personnel to Central Papua Regional Police. The details include 100 Brimob personnel, 10 personnel from the Intelligence and Security Agency (BIK), 20 personnel from Bareskrim, 14 personnel from Divpropam, and four personnel from Itwasum. This addition of forces was carried out following a series of conflicts after the death of a Dogiyai Police Resort member with initials JE (24) in Kimupugi Village, Kamuu District, on 31 March 2026. Central Papua Regional Police together with the Dogiyai Police Resort ranks then thickened security through a zoning system involving Paniai and Deiyai Police Resorts, and intensified patrols along the Trans Dogiyai route to Enarotali. As a result, on 3 April 2026, all road blockades were successfully dismantled, although there was resistance from community groups. Subsequently, on 4 April, the transportation route was ensured to be conducive again, allowing the distribution of logistics and fuel to run normally. To date, the police are still conducting further investigations into several police reports related to the series of events.
