According to TechCrunch, Polar founder Kevin Zhang, a former Perplexity engineer, assessed that most existing AI browsers are still too oriented towards information searches or assisting with occasional tasks, such as booking plane tickets or restaurant reservations. In reality, these activities are not performed by users every day. Therefore, Polar targets professionals who work with multiple browser tabs daily, ranging from analysts, marketers, and researchers to recruiters and corporate operational teams. Polar’s main advantage lies in the ability of its AI agent to perform various routine tasks without the need for manual intervention. Users can give instructions to the AI based on the tabs currently open, save frequently used prompts, schedule automated workflows, and even run tasks across multiple tabs simultaneously. With this approach, administrative work that usually takes time can be completed more quickly without having to switch between applications or write complex automation scripts. One of the things that differentiates Polar from many other automation platforms is its ease of use. This browser is designed so that anyone can use it, including users who do not have programming skills. The entire automation process is created through a simple interface, so users only need to give instructions to the AI without having to write code. This approach makes automation technology more easily accessible to professionals from various fields. Polar implements a freemium business model. Users can try various AI features with a daily credit quota for free. Interestingly, Kevin Zhang revealed that many users still use their main browser for daily activities, while Polar is used when they need AI assistance to perform complex and repetitive tasks. The presence of Polar indicates that the AI browser industry is starting to shift from merely providing chatbots towards AI agents that can truly work independently. This trend is also visible among several other technology companies that are now more focused on developing AI agents to increase user productivity, rather than just providing conversational search features.
