Polantas Outreach 'Polantas Menyapa' to Foster Road Traffic Discipline Among Ojol Drivers

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Traffic Corps (Korlantas) of the Indonesian National Police (Polri) has embraced online motorcycle taxi drivers (ojol) through the Polantas Menyapa programme to foster a culture of road user discipline.

‘The face of the traffic police today is the new face of the traffic police. The approach is not about issuing fines, but approaching with the heart, through friendship,’ said the Head of the Traffic Corps (Kakorlantas) of Polri, Inspector General Pol. Agus Suryonugroho, at the 2026 Technical Working Conference on Traffic Functions of Polri at the PTIK Building, Jakarta, on Friday.

Through a humane approach, he hopes road users, particularly two-wheeled vehicle riders, will be orderly and compliant with traffic rules on their own, without the need for law enforcement action.

Furthermore, he said that his side, together with Jasa Raharja, has formed ‘Ojol Nusantara’ with the aim of strengthening solidarity and communication among ojol drivers across regions.

‘We report that 15 regional police departments (Polda) are ready. This means nearly millions of ojol drivers have been engaged; we have conducted silaturahmi (social visits),’ he said.

Korlantas Polri organised the 2026 Budget Year’s Traffic Function Working Conference, which carried the theme Digitalisation of Polantas Services to Support Polri’s Presisi Transformation in Realising Asta Cita.

A number of officials attended the event, including Transport Minister Dudy Purwagandhi, Chair of House of Representatives Commission III Habiburokhman, and the Chair of the DPR’s MDK Nazaruddin Dek Gam.

Also in attendance were key Korlantas Polri stakeholders, such as Jasa Marga’s President Director Rivan A. Purwantono, Jasa Raharja’s President Director Muhammad Awaluddin, and PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) President Director Achmad Muchtasyar.

Several top Mabes Polri officials were also present, including Inspector General Wahyu Widada (Deputy Chief of the National Police), KabaHarkam Polri Komjen Pol. Karyoto, and Kalemdiklat Polri Komjen Pol. R.Z Panca Putra Simanjuntak.
