Pola Raya ready to take national architects into the global market
PT Pola Raya Studio (Pola Raya) is preparing to open an office in New York, United States, and is exploring the acquisition of a local company as part of efforts to bridge Indonesian architects, developers and companies into the global market.
Director of PT Pola Raya Studio, Mohamad Amin Ahlun Nazar, said the main programme to be developed is bringing Indonesian architects to New York to showcase their work and present their ideas directly to developers, architecture firms, project owners and industry players in the United States.
Many Indonesian projects, Amin said in a statement in Jakarta on Saturday, actually have strong quality and vision, but face challenges when they have to be explained to audiences who are new to the project.
“A good project is not necessarily immediately understood. In international business meetings, we may only have a short time to make someone understand the scale, value and reasons why a project deserves attention,” he said.
Therefore, the firm will help project owners speak clearly so that potential global investors trust them. Architects will gain space to explain not only the final drawings, but also the thinking, experience, materials, culture, technology and approach that shape their work.
Models, craft, materials and digital experiences can be used to help audiences understand ideas more quickly and completely.
In relation to this, PT Pola Raya Studio together with the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia in New York signed a Letter of Intent in early August 2026 to strengthen the promotion of Indonesian architecture, craft, design, talent and creative economy in the United States.
The signing, Amin continued, marks the beginning of a collaboration that includes exhibitions, presentations, business forums, business matching, architecture and design programmes, models, dioramas, digital content and knowledge exchange.
“The purpose of this cooperation is not merely to take the Pola Raya name abroad. The presence is designed as a bridge for architects, developers, property companies and Indonesian companies from various sectors to introduce their capabilities, projects and business opportunities to the global market,” he said.
Meanwhile, Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia in New York Winanto Adi added that the collaboration opens space for Indonesia’s capacity to meet relevant international networks.
“Indonesia has architects, craftsmen, designers and companies with strong capabilities. What is needed is space so that these capabilities can be properly introduced, understood and developed into real professional and business relationships,” he said.
He said New York was chosen because of its position as one of the world’s centres of economy, architecture, property, design and investment. The city is a meeting place for developers, architecture firms, investors, financial institutions, academics, technology players and creative industries from various countries.
