Poins Square Fire: One Burn Victim Hospitalised
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - A fire broke out at Poins Square in Lebak Bulus on Monday evening (25 May 2026). According to the Fire Department (Damkar), a public report came in at 7:17 pm WIB via telephone.
The burning object was the AfterHour coffee shop on the second floor of Poins Square. The fire has since been extinguished by Damkar.
A total of 14 units and 54 Damkar personnel were deployed to the scene. Units departed at 7:19 pm WIB, arrived at the scene at 7:23 pm WIB, and the fire was fully extinguished by 7:57 pm WIB.
Damkar stated the fire is suspected to have been caused by a gas leak. The victim identified is Eka, a 36-year-old man.
He sustained 10% burns and was rushed to Selapa Hospital. Estimated losses from the incident amount to Rp17,434,600.
Damkar explained the sequence of events: an employee named Anto attempted to replace a 12kg gas cylinder. A faulty gas regulator caused gas to suddenly ignite from the stove when he tried to fix it.
“After that, the coffee shop staff tried to extinguish the fire using a fire extinguisher, while the building security contacted Damkar. Nearby firefighters were then dispatched to the scene,” Damkar said.
