POGI Chairperson to Summon Obstetrician Suspected of Sending Lewd DMs
The Indonesian Society of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (POGI) is responding to a case involving sensual-toned chats allegedly sent by the Instagram account of Dr Muhammad Iqbal, SpOG, to a woman named Leona Kanza. The case surfaced after the victim shared screenshots showing indecent direct messages (DMs) from the account of Dr Muhammad Iqbal, known as @iballmd.
The DM contained the message, “Your [body part] is nice. Give me your number, babe.” The Chairperson of the POG_I Central Board, Prof. Dr Budi Wiweko, Sp.OG, stated that the organisation is currently in the process of summoning the doctor involved. POGI will also seek clarification from Dr Muhammad Iqbal to directly ascertain the facts and verify the truth of the circulating allegations.
“Currently, POGI is in the process of summoning and requesting clarification from the individual concerned,” said Prof. Budi when contacted by Republika on Wednesday (2/9/2026).
Prof. Budi emphasised that if Dr Muhammad Iqbal is found guilty during the investigation, POGI will impose sanctions in accordance with the ethical and professional guidelines applicable within the organisation. “If proven guilty, there will be sanctions according to POGI’s ethical and professional guidelines,” he added.
Meanwhile, Kirana Clinic Curup in Bengkulu, where Dr Muhammad Iqbal practices, has decided to suspend him. This decision was announced by the clinic’s management via an open letter posted on Instagram on Wednesday (2/9/2026).
“In relation to the developing information regarding the viral case of Instagram messages from the @iballmd account, owned by one of our specialists, Dr Muhammad Iqbal SpOG, to the @leonakanza_17 Instagram account, we have decided to deactivate Dr Muhammad Iqbal’s assignment at our Kirana Clinic for an indefinite period,” stated the clinic management.
Kirana Clinic management stated that the social media issue allegedly involving Dr Muhammad Iqbal was a private conversation that occurred outside the healthcare service environment of Kirana Clinic. Nevertheless, as a form of professional responsibility, the management has requested that the individual provide a clarification.
“Kirana Clinic has also requested the individual to provide clarification so that this matter can be resolved properly,” they said.
Kirana Clinic reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining integrity, professionalism, and the quality of service for the entire community. They also expressed their deepest apologies for the inconvenience caused by this situation.
“We hope that the clarification will rectify the developing situation and provide clarity for all parties involved. For your attention and cooperation, we thank you,” concluded the clinic management.
