Pocong roaming Ciputat rumor stirs up concern; turns out to be a cosplaying busker

Rumours of a ‘pocong’ roaming around Ciputat Timur circulated in a thread. Several netizens claimed to have seen the apparition of a pocong. Some netizens said they saw a pocong on Jalan Haji Gadung Raya, with one claiming 2 to 3 ‘pocong’ were sitting around. There were also reports of a ‘pocong’ near a boarding house in Ciputat Timur, near the Pertamina Complex. The rumours spread quickly, unsettling residents. Police, who received information about the appearance of the ‘pocong’, went to the location to investigate. ‘We have gone down to the area and spoke to several residents around the location; there is no pocong,’ said Bambang when contacted by detikcom on Thursday (21/5/2026). He confirmed there was no pocong or ghostly figure in the area. The police’s investigation found that the ‘pocong’ was a busker cosplaying as a pocong. ‘So there is no pocong; what exists is a busker cosplaying as a pocong,’ he said. He added authorities would seek clarification from the account that first spread the issue and urged people to verify information before sharing on social media. ‘Check the truth before spreading the issue,’ he said. The incident had caused commotion and anxiety among residents. He hoped the public would not be easily influenced by unverified rumours.
