PO Bagong Adopts Locally Made Electric Vehicle from VKTR
MALANG - PO Bagong has officially adopted a domestically produced electric vehicle for commercial transport. The electric vehicle unit, named Transporter, is manufactured by the domestic company PT VKTR Teknologi Mobilitas Tbk (VKTR). The handover of the vehicle unit took place on Saturday (25/4/2026) in Kepanjen, Malang Regency.
VKTR’s Director and Chief Operating Officer, V. Bimo Kurniatmoko, stated that the collaboration is part of a shared commitment to promoting the transformation of mass transportation that is more environmentally friendly, modern, and sustainable in Indonesia.
“This step marks an important milestone in accelerating the adoption of electric vehicles in the land transportation sector, particularly in the Malang region and surrounding areas,” he said on Saturday.
Bimo hopes that the presence of the electric Transporter will serve as an efficient alternative mode of transport, while also making a tangible contribution to improving urban air quality through emission reductions.
“We appreciate PO Bagong’s commitment, which has become one of the pioneers in adopting electric-based mass vehicles. This step not only has a positive environmental impact but also serves as a real example for other transportation industry players,” Bimo added.
VKTR’s electric Transporter offers various advantages, from zero emissions that contribute to reducing air pollution, to a more comfortable and modern driving experience through a quieter cabin and minimal vibrations.
“Its presence also forms part of efforts to strengthen the domestic industry ecosystem and supply chain, while demonstrating Indonesia’s competitiveness in delivering future mobility solutions,” he explained.
If the adoption of electric vehicles becomes more widespread, the contribution to the net zero emission target and the national sustainability agenda is expected to accelerate further.
This step is also relevant from a business perspective, particularly in facing global energy price pressures, thereby providing added value to industry players.
“VKTR believes that the transformation towards green mobility is not only an environmental necessity but also a strategic opportunity for the industry to grow sustainably,” he concluded.
Meanwhile, the President Director of PT Bagong Dekaka Makmur (PO Bagong), Budi Susilo, said that this investment is part of PO Bagong’s long-term strategy to deliver higher-quality transportation services that are also adaptive to industry developments.
“The use of this electric Transporter represents our commitment to providing healthier, more comfortable, and environmentally friendly services to the public. Moreover, from a business standpoint, this step is part of our efforts to be more efficient and adaptive, especially amid the uncertain dynamics of global energy prices. We are optimistic that electric vehicles will become the new standard in the transportation industry moving forward,” he stated.
