PT Permodalat Nasional Madani, or PNM, has introduced the RE3 For-E programme—standing for Reduce, Re-love, Restyle for Environment, Economy, Empowerment, and Education—as part of its 27th anniversary celebrations. Carrying the message, “From the Unused, a Growing Impact Emerges,” this movement serves as an invitation for PNM employees to recognise that items no longer in use can serve as the beginning of new benefits.

For instance, behind piles of unused clothing, there is always the potential for new opportunities. Clothing that previously sat unused in wardrobes can regain value through the right movement, benefiting not only the donation recipients but also the small entrepreneurs involved in the process.

Through RE3 For-E, PNM connects environmental concern with economic empowerment. Collected wearable clothing is not distributed immediately; instead, it undergoes a process of washing, tidying, and curation to ensure it is presented in a proper condition. In this process, PNM involves PNM Mekaar customers who operate laundry businesses as part of the programme’s benefit chain.

A total of 17 tonnes of wearable clothing have been collected from various PNM regions across Indonesia. More than 270 PNM Mekaar customers running laundry businesses were involved in washing and tidying the donated clothes before they were distributed to those in need. This involvement serves as evidence that environmental movements can run alongside economic opportunities that directly benefit ultra-micro entrepreneurs.

For the laundry customers, RE3 For-E is more than just a social activity. The programme provides a space to participate in charitable actions while generating additional income for their businesses. Through the process of washing and tidying the clothes, there is a sense of pride as their small businesses become part of a broader benefit.

“We are happy to be involved in PNM’s RE3 For-E programme,” said Anjar Sifa Maulidia, a PNM customer who owns a laundry business. For her, involvement in the programme has provided a meaningful experience for both herself and her business.

“We help wash and tidy the collected clothing before it is distributed to the community in need. In addition to earning extra income from this programme, we also feel proud to be part of such a social action,” she added.

Similarly, Emi Himawati, a PNM Mekaar customer from the Solo branch, also received laundry orders for wearable clothing donated by PNM employees. According to her, this support is significant for the sustainability of her business.

“Thank you to PNM for the support provided to our laundry business through the orders of wearable clothing from employee donations during PNM’s 27th anniversary celebrations,” she said.

She noted that this assistance and care are deeply meaningful. “It not only helps the business to continue operating and growing but also boosts our spirit to keep moving forward alongside PNM.”

Through this programme, previously unused clothing does not end up as waste. Instead, it transforms into a benefit for recipients, an income opportunity for laundry customers, and a part of a larger movement of care.

RE3 For-E serves as a manifestation of how simple steps can create a wide-reaching impact when undertaken together. This embodies the spirit of PNM’s 27th anniversary: Together in Every Step, Accompanying in Every Struggle.
