PNM's Clean Water Programme Boosts Community Business Productivity
Water for PT Permodalan Nasional Madani (PNM) is not merely a basic need, but also a vital foundation that supports family health as well as community economic productivity.
On the occasion of World Water Day, PNM has reiterated its commitment to delivering access to clean water and proper sanitation for underprivileged communities in various regions of Indonesia.
PNM understands that the sustainability of its customers’ businesses is determined not only by access to financing, but also by the availability of basic infrastructure that supports daily activities.
Throughout 2025, PNM has initiated a clean water and sanitation programme at 28 locations across various areas, through the construction of sanitation facilities, provision of clean water sources, and strengthening of infrastructure that can be collectively utilised by the community.
This programme not only impacts improvements in health and environmental cleanliness, but also delivers tangible benefits to community business productivity.
Many PNM customers running household-based enterprises—from culinary ventures and agricultural processing to crafts—greatly depend on the availability of clean water in their production processes.
PNM’s Corporate Secretary, L. Dodot Patria Ary, emphasised that sustainable empowerment must be built through a comprehensive approach, encompassing both economic aspects and community quality of life. According to him, for underprivileged communities, clean water holds far broader significance than just a basic need; it is also a primary driver of economic activities.
“Therefore, providing access to clean water means opening opportunities for communities to live healthier lives while enhancing their economic capacity,” said Dodot. He added that this step is part of PNM’s commitment to delivering empowerment with real and sustainable impact.
“We believe empowerment does not stop at access to capital. When communities have a healthier living environment and adequate basic infrastructure, they have greater opportunities to grow, strive, and improve their family welfare,” he continued.
This clean water and sanitation programme also forms part of PNM’s contribution to supporting the sustainable development agenda, particularly in fulfilling access to clean water and proper sanitation for the community. Through social initiatives integrated with empowerment programmes, PNM continues to strive for broader impact.
Every clean water access built is not merely infrastructure, but also a social investment that brings healthier, more productive, and dignified lives to underprivileged communities.
