PNM Supports Integration of the MSME Ecosystem Through SAPA UMKM
MSME sector remains a lifeblood for millions of Indonesian families. Behind its contribution of around 60 percent to the national Gross Domestic Product, MSMEs are also where many people place their hopes, build independence, and sustain family economies. According to BPS Sakernas data for August 2024, the number of MSMEs in Indonesia reached 56,142,687 units, of which 96.94% are micro enterprises. This figure shows that strengthening the MSME ecosystem is not only about economic growth, but also about safeguarding small entrepreneurs who have long formed the backbone of the people’s economy. Amid the sector’s substantial role, the challenges facing MSMEs remain quite complex. Many entrepreneurs, especially in micro and ultra-micro segments, have not yet fully accessed integrated services, ranging from financing, legality, marketing, to business mentoring. To address these needs, the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs together with the Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas introduced SAPA UMKM as a central information and services platform that integrates a range of ease, protection, and empowerment programmes for MSMEs from government and non-government actors in a single access point. The platform was unveiled in a soft launch at the Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas, Jakarta, Thursday 21 May 2026. Minister of National Development Planning/Head of Bappenas, Rachmat Pambudy, expressed appreciation for the collaboration. He said that a country’s progress cannot be separated from the strength of entrepreneurial spirit among its people. On that occasion, Rachmat described SAPA UMKM as a digital revolution for the development of Indonesia’s micro and small enterprises. Minister of Cooperatives and SMEs Maman Abdurrahman explained that SAPA UMKM will strengthen various aspects of business development, from data management, access to financing and incentives, marketing and collaboration, to strengthening the supply chain, partnerships, and one-stop services. He stated that the platform’s presence is part of the government’s effort to deliver more integrated services for MSMEs. “In addition to functioning as a single data collection and mapping system for MSMEs, SAPA UMKM will also integrate various business needs into one application, from licensing through OSS, certification, training, to connecting MSME entrepreneurs with suppliers, logistics, large industries, state-owned enterprises (BUMN), and other business ecosystems,” said Minister Maman.
