PT Permodalan Nasional Madani (PNM), as part of the Danantara ecosystem, has expanded financing for underprivileged communities, particularly women ultra-micro entrepreneurs, reaching 23.1 million customers across Indonesia. PNM President Director Kindaris stated that this outreach makes PNM the world’s largest institution for empowering and financing underprivileged women. “For us, growth is not merely about numbers, but about more underprivileged women having the opportunity to rise, do business, and improve their families’ lives,” Kindaris said in a statement received in Jakarta on Wednesday. Kindaris added that the expansion of financing access is accompanied by mentoring, training, and growth opportunities for underprivileged communities. “We also maintain service quality and distribution to ensure it is targeted, measurable, and able to support the sustainability of customers’ businesses,” he said. According to him, ongoing efforts include increasing business capacity, group mentoring, and building the confidence of underprivileged women so they can continue to grow with their families. “We want to ensure that the benefits of empowerment are delivered with better governance, higher quality distribution, and a spirit that remains close to the community, so that there is no longer a gap in access to financing and empowerment for those living in urban areas or at the farthest reaches of Indonesia,” Kindaris said. Meanwhile, Danantara COO and Head of the State-Owned Enterprises Supervisory Board Dony Oskaria appreciated the performance improvement of state-owned enterprises, including PNM, which he said has successfully exceeded its targets. He noted that this performance improvement aligns with the spirit of information transparency consistently emphasised by Danantara and the SOE Supervisory Board. He expressed hope that the expansion of financing access could become a solution for subsistence-level women running ultra-micro businesses, so that the impact is more tangibly felt by communities in rural areas. The extension of services to remote parts of Indonesia, including the 3T regions (frontier, outermost, and disadvantaged), is part of Danantara’s commitment to improving economic empowerment access for women.
