PT Permodalan Nasional Madani (PNM) is providing vocational training for people with disabilities in Brebes, Central Java, as part of efforts to expand access to decent work and economic independence. The programme, held at the Brebes Islamic Centre, is a collaboration between PNM Tegal branch and Mandiri Taspen.

Data from Statistics Indonesia (BPS) shows that the workforce participation rate for people with disabilities remains relatively low, with limited access to training and employment opportunities hindering their economic independence. The initiative aims to address this gap by equipping participants with industry-relevant skills.

A total of 30 participants from disabled communities in Brebes and surrounding areas are taking part in a shoe-making training scheme facilitated by Ruang Amal Indonesia. Over five days, they will receive technical instruction tailored to industry needs. Upon completion, participants will have the opportunity to enter a job placement process with shoe manufacturing companies operating in the Brebes area. The programme aligns with PNM’s ongoing mission to empower underprivileged communities.
