PNM Peduli Provides Clean Water Access for NTT Earthquake Refugees
Support from PT Permodalan Nasional Madani (Persero), or PNM, for residents affected by the earthquake in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) continues. This time, attention is directed at a need that is no less important for residents still staying in evacuation shelters: the availability of clean water.
Through PNM Peduli, PNM has provided two water tanks to support the needs of residents at the Robo Evacuation Post in Ruteng. Each tank has a capacity of 2,200 litres and 1,100 litres respectively, and has been donated and installed at the evacuation site for communal use.
The clean water is sourced from PDAM Ruteng and is used to meet the basic needs of the refugees, including bathing, washing, and toilet facilities (MCK), as well as drinking water.
For residents still in evacuation shelters, access to clean water is a daily necessity that cannot be postponed. In addition to helping maintain the cleanliness of the evacuation environment, the availability of water is also an important part of maintaining residents’ health during the emergency response period.
This support is a continuation of PNM’s earlier efforts, which included mapping community needs and distributing food aid to several evacuation points in the earthquake-affected areas. PNM’s response has been carried out in stages, following the needs identified directly in the field.
“We see that the needs of the community in evacuation shelters continue to evolve. After food, clean water is a very basic need that must be available every day. Therefore, we are trying to provide support that can be used together and provide direct benefits for residents at the post,” said Kindaris, President Director of PNM.
According to him, aid in disaster situations does not always have to be in the form of assistance that is immediately used up. Simple infrastructure that can be utilised together is also important to help residents get through the evacuation period more comfortably.
“We hope that these water tanks will not only help meet today’s needs but also provide convenience for residents as long as they remain in evacuation shelters. We will continue to monitor conditions in the field and see what other needs we can support,” he said.
After ensuring the condition of employees and mapping the needs of customers, PNM Peduli continues to adapt its assistance to the needs of the community. From food, baby and women’s supplies, support for public kitchens, to now clean water access, PNM’s aid continues to be directed at the needs closest to residents’ daily lives.
Amid the post-earthquake recovery process, PNM hopes that this support can help ease the burden on residents and make their days in evacuation shelters a little better.
