PNM Partners with MES to Strengthen Empowerment of Underprivileged Women

Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT Permodalan Nasional Madani (PNM) is partnering with Masyarakat Ekonomi Syariah (MES) to strengthen the economic empowerment of underprivileged women through the “Mba Maya” (Membina dan Memberdaya) empowerment programme.

PNM President Director Arief Mulyadi stated that the collaboration introduces Sharia-based business mentoring and opens access to continuous training for underprivileged mothers, who form the majority of PNM’s customers, enabling them to develop their businesses and advance.

“We are committed to continuing to promote women’s empowerment, especially through the Sharia ecosystem. This is a concrete step to support women’s economic empowerment in Indonesia,” he said in his statement in Jakarta on Friday.

The “Mba Maya” programme was launched on 6 May 2026, attended by more than 30,000 PNM customers in a hybrid format, both offline and online.

According to Arief, the collaboration between the two institutions aims to strengthen the role of the Sharia economy as one of the drivers of women’s business independence in Indonesia, carrying the campaign “Blessed Business in the Framework of Sharia Economy” through the “Mba Maya” programme.

The programme is seen as part of efforts to expand the impact of mentoring for ultra-micro business actors, which is the focus of PNM’s financing.

Currently, he added, 73% of PNM’s financing is Sharia-based and has facilitated more than 2,300 halal certifications for customers’ businesses.

He stated that the Mba Maya Programme focuses on enhancing women’s business capacity through continuous training and mentoring.

Meanwhile, MES Central Board Daily Chairman Ferry Juliantono appreciated PNM’s step in presenting an empowerment programme targeting grassroots communities.

According to the Cooperatives Minister, the Mba Maya programme aligns with President Prabowo’s Astacita, namely building from villages and from the bottom for economic equality and poverty eradication.

On that occasion, Ferry also stated that PNM’s data management system, particularly the existence of the Command Centre displaying a good data dashboard, can serve as an example for other institutions, such as the Cooperatives, Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises Revolving Fund Management Institution (LPDB-KUMKM).
