Jakarta. PT Permodalan Nasional Madani (PNM) has stated that business mentoring combined with access to capital has proven effective in boosting the income and welfare of ultra-micro entrepreneurs, especially women.

PNM President Director Kindaris said in Jakarta on Wednesday that the sustainable empowerment model not only strengthens business capacity but also encourages more business actors to graduate to formal financial services.

“As the world’s largest women’s empowerment institution, through the Membina Ekonomi Keluarga Sejahtera (Mekaar) programme, we continue to expand access to financing, mentoring, and capacity building for women ultra-micro entrepreneurs across various regions,” Kindaris said.

To date, the programme has reached 23.3 million clients, most of whom previously lacked access to formal financial services. Empowerment is the main factor that enables financing to generate a broader economic impact for the community, he added.

“The PNM Mekaar programme continues to have a direct impact on millions of women ultra-micro entrepreneurs in Indonesia. Our presence not only opens access to capital but also builds the confidence of clients to continue developing their businesses and improving their families’ economic conditions,” Kindaris stated.

According to him, findings from Indekstat (2025) showed that the average net income of PNM Mekaar clients increased by Rp875,733 per month. Additionally, the business development capability index rose by 28.73 percent, moving from a low to a medium category.

Meanwhile, research from the Institute for Economic and Social Research (LPEM) at the University of Indonesia recorded that the economic impact of the programme also boosted household consumption to Rp7.13 trillion in 2025. The same study indicated that 2.35 million clients successfully graduated to higher formal financial services.

Kindaris said the data demonstrates that empowerment not only expands financing access for ultra-micro business groups but also contributes to increased business productivity, strengthened family economies, and broader financial inclusion.

“PNM assists not only in terms of business financing but also mentors clients through training, financial literacy, business literacy, and capacity building,” he said. “We want to ensure every client gets the opportunity to develop, achieve family prosperity, and ultimately graduate. This is what we call providing financial, social, and intellectual capital,” he added.
