PNM Mekaar Customers Demonstrate That Empowering Women Can Strengthen Family Economies
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – Empowering women is an important part of driving national economic growth. Amidst the contribution of MSMEs (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises) which accounts for more than 60 percent of the national Gross Domestic Product (GDP), the role of women in managing micro, small and medium enterprises is a force that cannot be ignored. More than half of MSME entrepreneurs in Indonesia are women, making them an important pillar in family economies as well as drivers of change in their surrounding environment.
Through the Mekaar (Fostering Prosperous Families) program, PT Permodalan Nasional Madani (PNM) aims to reach underprivileged women so that they have wider access to business assistance and social networks based on groups. Not only providing financial capital, PNM also provides intellectual capital through training and business mentoring, as well as social capital through group meetings which are a space for sharing experiences, strengthening each other, and inspiring members.
The impact of this assistance can be seen from the achievements of PNM Mekaar customers who successfully won awards at the Women’s Inspiration Awards 2026 event held on April 30, 2026. One of them is Nurjannah, a PNM Mekaar customer who believes that intensive mentoring is an important part of her business journey. She said that her success was not only due to personal hard work, but also from the ongoing coaching process carried out by PNM.
“Thank God, with this guidance from PNM, I can go this far. What used to be a small business, but because I always get guidance from PNM, thank God today I can stand here to receive this award. Thank you very much PNM, I am very grateful,” said Nurjannah.
Sri Kartini, a PNM Mekaar customer from Magelang, conveyed a similar sentiment, stating that the presence of PNM has helped small entrepreneurs to continue to develop and scale up their businesses. For her, PNM is not only a financing institution, but also a partner that is present to closely accompany the business growth process.
“PNM always provides assistance to MSMEs. We are very grateful to PNM, who always gives encouragement to us MSME entrepreneurs,” said Sri Kartini.
“Our hope is that women in Indonesia will always be empowered and help improve family welfare,” she added.
