PNM Has Served 23.3 Million Underprivileged Customers Across Indonesia
Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT Permodalan Nasional Madani (PNM) has reached and served 23.3 million PNM Mekaar customers across Indonesia, reinforcing its role as an empowerment institution that provides access to financing and mentoring for the community. “Every financing provided must lead to an improvement in the quality of life for the customers and their families,” said PNM President Director Kindaris in Jakarta on Friday. He stated that the state-owned company has served 23.3 million PNM Mekaar customers throughout Indonesia, the majority of whom are underprivileged women who serve as the backbone of their family economies. Kindaris noted that this success is measured not only by the volume of financing disbursed but also by the tangible impact felt by the customers and their families. Through an approach that combines financing, business mentoring, and character building, PNM strives to ensure that every service provided encourages sustainable social and economic change. Kindaris added that this impact is reflected in various independent studies showing an improvement in customer welfare. A 2025 study by INDEKSTAT recorded that customers’ net income increased from IDR 2.02 million to IDR 2.90 million per month, a rise of approximately IDR 875,000 per month. Simultaneously, customers’ business development capabilities increased by nearly 29 percent, demonstrating that access to financing accompanied by mentoring can strengthen the capacity of ultra-micro businesses to grow and survive. Kindaris affirmed that the company’s primary mission is not only to provide access to capital but also to create an impact that can sustainably change people’s lives. “Therefore, we are present not just as a financing institution, but also as an empowerment partner that assists underprivileged women to grow, become empowered, and have a better future,” he said. The financing company currently serves customers in 36 provinces through 58 branch offices and more than 4,000 Mekaar service units. Supported by over 43,000 account officers who provide daily direct assistance to customers, the company continues to strengthen its empowerment approach down to the grassroots level. He added that the majority of customers were previously considered unbankable and unfeasible, with limited access to formal financial services and digital technology. Therefore, the State-Owned Enterprise (SOE) believes that empowerment must be carried out inclusively and sustainably, not only through financing but also through mentoring that builds self-confidence, business capacity, and family economic resilience.
