PNM Boosts Welfare of Underprivileged Families Through Easier Financing Access
PT Permodalan Nasional Madani (PNM) continues to strengthen its role as an empowerment institution that opens access to financing and mentoring for communities not yet reached by formal financial services. This commitment has now reached and served 23.3 million PNM Mekaar customers throughout Indonesia, the majority of whom are underprivileged women serving as the backbone of their family economies. For PNM, success is measured not only by the volume of financing disbursed but also by the impact felt by customers and their families. Through an approach combining financing, business mentoring, and character building, PNM seeks to ensure that every service provided drives sustainable social and economic change. This impact is reflected in various independent studies showing improved customer welfare. An INDEKSTAT study (2025) recorded that customers’ net income increased from Rp2.02 million to Rp2.90 million per month, a rise of approximately Rp875,000 per month. At the same time, customers’ business development capacity also increased by almost 29 percent, demonstrating that access to financing accompanied by mentoring can strengthen the capacity of ultra-micro businesses to grow and survive. PNM President Director Kindaris emphasised that PNM’s main mission is not only to provide capital access but also to create an impact that can sustainably change people’s lives. “Every financing provided must lead to an improvement in the quality of life of customers and their families. That is why we are present not only as a financing institution but also as an empowerment partner that assists underprivileged women to grow, become empowered, and have a better future,” said Kindaris. Currently, PNM serves customers in 36 provinces through 58 branch offices and more than 4,000 Mekaar service units. Supported by over 43,000 Account Officers who directly mentor customers every day, PNM continues to strengthen an empowerment approach that reaches the grassroots level. The majority of PNM customers are groups previously classified as unbankable and unfeasible, with limited access to formal financial services and digital technology. Therefore, PNM believes that empowerment must be carried out inclusively and sustainably, not only through financing but also through mentoring that builds self-confidence, business capacity, and family economic resilience. Going forward, PNM will continue to expand the impact of empowerment so that more underprivileged women can move up the economic ladder. With the spirit of fostering a prosperous family economy, PNM is committed to continuing to assist millions of customers in building stronger businesses, more prosperous families, and a more empowered future.
