PNM and Danantara Strengthen Governance and Women's Empowerment
PT Permodalan Nasional Madani (PNM) continues to strengthen its performance and corporate governance in synergy with Danantara. This strengthening is evident not only institutionally but also through the broadening impact of empowerment felt by underprivileged communities, particularly women engaged in ultra-micro enterprises.
To date, PNM has served 23.1 million clients across Indonesia. This achievement makes PNM the world’s largest institution for the empowerment and financing of underprivileged women.
Together with Danantara, PNM is also enhancing the quality of information conveyed to the public to ensure it is increasingly aligned with data, facts, and actual conditions on the ground. This step is taken to improve accountability, transparency, and accuracy in portraying the company’s condition.
This governance strengthening serves as a crucial foundation for PNM’s business sustainability. With an increasingly sound and transparent system, the company can continue its mission of providing access to financing, business mentoring, and capacity development opportunities for underprivileged communities.
Meanwhile, the quality of financing distribution and services to clients is also being continuously improved. PNM ensures that the financing provided is increasingly targeted, measurable, and capable of supporting the sustainability of its clients’ businesses.
These various efforts open wider opportunities for PNM to deliver benefits to the community, ranging from enhancing business capacity and group mentoring to strengthening the self-confidence of underprivileged women so they can develop their businesses and improve family welfare.
Chief Operating Officer of Danantara and Head of BP BUMN, Dony Oskaria, appreciated the performance improvement of several state-owned enterprises, including PNM, which was deemed successful in exceeding set targets. According to Dony, this achievement aligns with the spirit of transparency and information openness continuously promoted by Danantara and BP BUMN in managing state enterprises.
PNM President Director Kindaris stated that Danantara’s support is a crucial factor in strengthening the company’s efforts to deliver increasingly impactful empowerment programmes. “For us, growth is not merely about numbers, but about more underprivileged women having the opportunity to rise, do business, and improve their families’ lives,” Kindaris said.
Through the spirit of #PNMuntukUMKM and #PNMPemberdayaanUMKM, the benefits of the empowerment programme are increasingly felt by women from subsistence groups, especially in rural areas and regions with limited economic access. This commitment is realised through the expansion of services to various remote areas of Indonesia, including frontier, outermost, and disadvantaged regions. This step demonstrates PNM’s commitment alongside Danantara to reach women who have long struggled to obtain formal financing access due to limited banking services.
Kindaris affirmed that PNM will continue to deliver empowerment supported by increasingly better governance, more optimal financing distribution quality, and an approach closely aligned with community needs. “Together with Danantara, PNM wants to ensure that empowerment benefits are delivered with better governance, higher quality distribution, and a spirit that remains close to the community,” Kindaris concluded.
