PNG national nabbed for assault

JAYAPURA, Papua: Jayapura Police arrested Frans Yoku, a Papua New Guinea (PNG) national, for assaulting Papua resident Nimbrod Yoku in July last year in Jayapura.

Frans was arrested in the Sentani area of Jayapura on Monday, after he had been on the run in Papua for months.

Jayapura Police chief Comr. Robert Djoensoe said on Wednesday that, having assaulted the victim, Frans had violated Article 351 of the Criminal Code, which carries a maximum sentence of five years in jail. -- JP
