PMJ Led by Komjen, Kompolnas Emphasises Improvement in Public Services

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Police Commission (Kompolnas) has emphasised the importance of improving public services following the leadership of Polda Metro Jaya by a high-ranking Indonesian National Police (Polri) officer holding the rank of Commissioner General (Komjen). “With the rank promotion from two stars to three stars, it must be matched with the best possible service improvement to all members of society, to the components or entities of society in the working area of Polda Metro Jaya,” said Kompolnas Commissioner Mohammad Choirul Anam to the media in Jakarta on Thursday. According to him, Polda Metro Jaya has different social, political, and economic dynamics compared to other regional police commands. Therefore, he assessed that the upgrade in the status of Polda Metro Jaya’s leader to Komjen must be accompanied by an improvement in the quality of public services. “Hopefully, this becomes a good signal for public services,” he stated. It is known that Polda Metro Jaya is now officially led by a three-star general officer or Komjen. The position of Kapolda Metro Jaya remains filled by Asep Edi Suheri, who was previously ranked Inspector General and now holds the rank of Komjen. The Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya, Senior Commissioner Pol Budi Hermanto, confirmed the rank promotion. “It is true that the current Kapolda Metro Jaya holds the rank of Commissioner General of Police based on the Decree of the President of the Republic of Indonesia Number 38/POLRI/YEAR 2026 dated 13 May 2026,” he said. Asep Edi Suheri is a man born in Tasikmalaya, West Java, on 16 November 1972. The 1994 Police Academy (Akpol) graduate is known to have a long track record in the fields of criminal investigation and law enforcement, particularly in uncovering cybercrime, narcotics, and cross-border crime cases. Previously, Asep was appointed as Kapolda Metro Jaya through Telegram Letter Number ST/1764/VIII/KEP./2025, replacing Komjen Pol Karyoto who was appointed as Head of the Security Maintenance Agency (Kabaharkam) of Polri.
