PMJ Analysis of JK's Sermon Video Leading to Police Report Against Ade Armando and Abu Janda
Police are still investigating the case of the report against Ade Armando and Permadi Arya, alias Abu Janda, regarding allegations of incitement and provocation stemming from an excerpt of a sermon by the 10th and 12th Vice President of Indonesia, Jusuf Kalla (JK). Police will examine the full JK sermon video to delve deeper into the report.
“Evidence will be analysed and tested. Polri has a credible and certified digital forensics lab,” said the Head of Public Relations of Metro Jaya Police, Kombes Budi Hermanto, when contacted on Thursday (23/4/2026).
Police will also seek statements from the complainant and several witnesses. Police have prepared the investigation administration for the report.
“Preparing mindik (investigation administration), seeking statements from the complainant, witness statements, and evidence,” he said.
For information, the report against Ade Armando and Abu Janda was filed by the Maluku Alliance of Advocates’ Professions (APAM). The report was registered under number LP/B/2767/IV/2026/SPKT/POLDA METRO JAYA dated 20 April 2026.
Ade and Abu Janda were reported in connection with alleged violations of Article 48 in conjunction with Article 32 of the ITE Law and/or Article 243 of the Criminal Code. APAM representative and complainant Paman Nurlette emphasised that the report filed does not represent Jusuf Kalla.
Nurlette said the excerpt of JK’s sermon uploaded by Ade on the Cokro TV YouTube channel and by Permadi on his Facebook account has caused a stir in the public sphere. He stated that it could trigger negative views and enmity.
“I am absolutely certain that if that video were posted in its entirety, not cut as we see now, the public would not be contaminated, the public would not be provoked by such a video,” said Nurlette.
Response from Ade Armando-Abu Janda
Ade Armando and Permadi Arya, alias Abu Janda, have spoken out after being reported to Metro Jaya Police regarding allegations of incitement and provocation stemming from an excerpt of a sermon by the 10th and 12th Vice President of Indonesia, Jusuf Kalla (JK). What is their response?
“I don’t understand the substance of their report. Why am I accused of cutting Mr JK’s sermon which caused a commotion? I didn’t cut or edit and then distribute it. What I did was just comment on the JK sermon excerpt that was circulating online,” said Ade Armando when contacted on Tuesday (21/4).
Ade Armando claims he is ready to face the report and follow the ongoing legal process. “Get ready (to follow the legal process),” he added.
Meanwhile, Abu Janda gave a brief response to the report. According to him, the report is ‘political revenge’.
“Clearly, that report is based on hatred and political revenge,” he said.
