Tangerang - the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) of Tangerang City, Banten, has deployed 27 personnel as a rapid response to floods that affected nine districts. PMI Kota Tangerang Chair Oman Jumansyah said on Sunday that the deployment was made after receiving reports and assessments of flood conditions in several areas. “In response to reports and flood assessment results in the Tangerang City area, we deployed SATGANA personnel for evacuation in Duren Village, Karang Tengah and Periuk Damai Housing, Periuk District,” Oman said. The PMI volunteer team was dispatched to evacuate residents affected by floods to safer locations. Based on data from the PMI Kota Tangerang Command Post, several areas targeted for evacuation include Perumahan Duren Village, Karang Tengah, Periuk Damai, Periuk District, as well as Perumahan Puri Kartika in the Ciledug area. PMI Kota Tangerang also reported that the PMI Ciledug team together with volunteers are still evacuating residents in Perumahan Puri Kartika to move them to safer locations. He added that evacuation efforts are not only focused on those two areas, but are also being carried out at other points. “Evacuation focus for affected residents is not only at those two points, but there are other points such as in Perumahan Puri Kartika carried out by PMI Ciledug,” he said. PMI Kota Tangerang also urged residents who wish to report flood incidents to contact the PMI Kota Tangerang Command Post at 021 3895 1051 or WhatsApp +62 818-1824-2081.
