PMI NTB distributes 300 aid packages for earthquake victims in NTT

The Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) has distributed 300 aid packages to support the handling of communities affected by the earthquake in several areas of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).

“For today, according to the instruction of PMI Chairman Jusuf Kalla, the focus is on mobilising volunteers to conduct assessments and assist with evacuation, first aid for injured residents, and also immediately setting up emergency tents so that people can quickly take shelter,” said Acting Chairman of PMI NTB NS Lalu Doddy Setiawan in Mataram on Sunday.

In addition to logistical aid, PMI NTB also sent a number of volunteers coordinated directly by the Head of the Disaster Management Division of PMI NTB, Lalu Mudahan.

Based on initial assessment results, Doddy continued, the urgent needs of communities affected by the NTT earthquake include tents, tarpaulins, clean water, ready-to-eat food, medicines, heavy equipment, and generators.

“The aid we have prepared complements the assistance sent by the NTB Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), the Social Service, and the NTB Health Service. Later, all aid will follow the Governor’s direction to become a unified effort to ease the burden of the NTT earthquake victims,” he said.

The aid from PMI NTB is scheduled to depart today for NTT by land using a large truck prepared by BPBD NTB.

According to him, PMI NTB continues to coordinate and assess with PMI Headquarters and PMI in the affected areas to ensure that the assistance provided matches the needs of the community at the affected locations.

Information on donation accounts can be obtained through PMI’s official Instagram account. In addition to monetary donations, the public can also provide support in the form of rice, foodstuffs, and decent clothing.

“In essence, PMI will be ready to distribute and send the most urgent needs on the ground,” said Lalu Doddy Setiawan.
