Jakarta — The Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) West Jakarta has intensified blood donation activities to maintain blood stock availability during Ramadhan.

The humanitarian initiative will be conducted over five days at multiple locations, including the Office of the West Jakarta Mayor, from Monday 9 March to Friday 13 March 2026 between 14:00 and 20:00 Western Indonesian Time.

“We have a target of 5,000 units, from 9 March to 13 March 2026. Why do we conduct this during Ramadhan? Because generally donations decrease during the fasting month. We also have shortages of blood types A, B and O,” explained Amien Haji, Chairman of PMI West Jakarta, when contacted in Jakarta on Tuesday.

The organisation hopes this activity will help support blood stock needs in Jakarta.

“With this activity we certainly aim to support blood supply intake. What we need in one day in West Jakarta is 200 units. For all of Jakarta, perhaps 1,000,” he said.

The campaign targets donors from among civil servants (ASN), contract workers (PPPK) and non-permanent staff (PJLP) of the West Jakarta Municipal Government as well as members of the public who wish to donate blood.

“But what is certain is that civil servants and everyone here in West Jakarta will participate in donating blood through this Ramadhan blood donation campaign,” he added.
