PMI gives medicine to flood victims
JAKARTA: The Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) has supplied flood victims in Jambi and Riau with medicines to deal with diarrhea, skin irritations and respiratory diseases.
PMI chairman Mar'ie Muhammad said on Friday he would inspect the flood-hit areas to assess in more detail what the victims needed.
Floods hit areas in Jambi and Riau provinces on Sumatra since early this month and inundated hectares of paddy field and houses, forcing residents to take refuge.
Mar'ie added that his office had also deployed rescue teams to help evacuate the people.
Local governments have also distributed rice, fresh water, clothes and tents to flood victims.
The PMI has also donated milk to 1,000 infants in the two flood-affected provinces. -- Antara
