Teachers and students are conducting teaching and learning activities within emergency tents established by the West Manggarai Regency Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) at SMPN 4 Boleng, East Nusa Tenggara. These tents are being utilised as temporary learning spaces to assist students and teachers in maintaining educational activities amidst post-earthquake conditions.

The 9 x 12-metre tents can accommodate up to two classes, or approximately 52 students, at one time. Constructed from tarpaulin, the tents are situated outside the school buildings to ensure that students and teachers can carry out lessons in a safer environment. The West Manggarai PMI has also erected emergency tents at SMAN Komodo, located in the capital of the West Manggarai Regency.

The provision of these learning tents is part of the PMI’s response to the impact of the earthquake in the Boleng District. The local government had previously requested support for the provision of emergency tents to ensure that teaching and learning activities could continue in several affected schools.

Based on assessments conducted by the PMI alongside educators at SMPN 4 Boleng, the school still requires various supplies to support educational activities, including whiteboards, notebooks, and other essential school equipment.
