PMI deploys ambulances at six points during May Day commemoration
Jakarta - The Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) is deploying ambulances at six points in Jakarta to ensure the smooth provision of healthcare services during the International Labour Day or May Day commemoration. “We have prepared a medical team of 20 people,” said the Head of the PMI Headquarters for DKI Jakarta Province, Muhamad Muchtar, in Jakarta on Friday. The six deployment points include the Patung Kuda area, Harmoni or North Merdeka Square, City Hall, Gambir, under the Slipi flyover or Palmerah, and in front of the DPR/MPR building. Previously, the Director of Traffic for Metro Jaya Police, Senior Commissioner Komarudin, stated that the total number of participants expected to join the International Labour Day commemoration in the Monas area would reach 200,000 people, with an estimated 4,000 buses entering Jakarta. “The latest data we received is over 200,000 people heading to Monas, and there are several groups that may carry out activities at various points in Jakarta,” he said on Thursday (30/4). The police are deploying 1,793 personnel to escort the International Labour Day or May Day commemoration activities, which are centred in the Monas area, Central Jakarta, on Friday, 1 May 2026.
