PM Singapore Visits Jakarta, Metro Police Regulate Traffic on 8 Roads
The Traffic Directorate (Ditlantas) of the Metro Jaya Police has prepared strict security and traffic management on eight protocol roads in the capital city. This measure follows the state visit of Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong to Indonesia. The security arrangements for toll roads and arterial routes are scheduled to be on standby from Sunday (5/7) evening until Monday (6/7).
Head of Operations for Ditlantas Metro Jaya Police, Commissioner Robby Hefados, explained that the security and land route engineering are a standard operating procedure for escorts and a form of respect for the state guest. The delegation from the Republic of Singapore is scheduled to begin its official state agenda starting Sunday at 18:00 WIB.
“Indonesia is receiving a state visit from the Prime Minister of the Republic of Singapore, H.E. Lawrence Wong, and a series of state events will be held from Sunday to Monday, 5 to 6 July 2026, at 18:00 WIB until completion,” said Robby in a written statement in Jakarta on Sunday (5/7).
Robby stated that the police have mapped out several main routes that will be used by the state vehicle convoy. The roads subject to these traffic arrangements include: Jalan Jenderal Sudirman, Jalan MH Thamrin, Jalan Medan Merdeka Barat, Jalan Medan Merdeka Utara, Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan, Jalan Medan Merdeka Timur, Jalan Gatot Subroto, and the Semanggi Interchange.
Although these main routes will be strictly guarded by joint personnel, Robby confirmed that the police will not implement permanent traffic closures that could paralyse public economic activity. Stopping public vehicles will only be enforced situationally when the convoy of the Singapore PM and delegation passes through. “Road closures will only be implemented when the state guest convoy passes,” Robby clarified.
To anticipate potential vehicle build-up or congestion, the Metro Jaya Police Traffic Directorate has urged all members of the public who have plans to travel through these areas to adjust their timing and seek alternative travel routes.
