Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi worshipped at the Shiva Temple within the Prambanan complex, offering prayers for the continued strengthening of relations between Indonesia and India for the progress and prosperity of both nations.

“It is a great honour and an extraordinary fortune for me that in this life I have had some moments where I have had the opportunity to connect with Lord Shiva,” Modi said during a joint press statement at the Prambanan Temple complex in Sleman, Yogyakarta, on Wednesday.

“This has been one of the most sacred, most extraordinary, and most devotional moments of my life,” he continued.

Modi prayed that the friendship between Indonesia and India would grow stronger and closer in the future, including prayers for the welfare and progress of both countries.

“I prayed here for stronger relations between India and Indonesia, for closer friendship between our people, for the welfare of the people of both countries, and for the rapid progress and prosperity of both nations,” Modi stated.

Modi expressed that the visit was made even more impressive because he was accompanied by President Prabowo Subianto, whom he considers a close friend.

“My friend President Prabowo, his presence here makes this event even more special. This event is more special because I had the opportunity to visit this sacred temple complex with my friend, President Prabowo,” he said.
