PM Modi Visits Indonesian Parliament to Strengthen Bilateral Ties

President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka accompanied Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on a state visit to the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR) complex on Tuesday (7/7/2026). The agenda, held in the Pustakaloka Room of the Nusantara IV Building in Jakarta, was part of the official state visit aimed at strengthening strategic relations between the two countries. Modi was received by DPR Speaker Puan Maharani, People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) Speaker Ahmad Muzani, and Regional Representative Council (DPD) Speaker Sultan Bachtiar Najamudin. The Indian Prime Minister then signed the guest book before proceeding with the series of events. President Prabowo and Prime Minister Modi later participated in a group photo session with Vice President Gibran and the heads of the state institutions. During the occasion, Modi also delivered a speech before members of the Indonesian parliament. The visit to the DPR concluded with a photo session in the Pustakaloka Room. Modi’s visit to the Indonesian legislative body was a key agenda item during his state visit, aimed not only at strengthening government-to-government ties but also at enhancing inter-parliamentary diplomacy and expanding people-to-people relations between the two nations. The government hopes that the increasingly close relationship between Indonesia and India will serve as a stronger foundation for developing a comprehensive strategic partnership across various sectors, including the economy, trade, investment, technology, and education.
