Indian Ambassador to Indonesia Sandeep Chakravorty has confirmed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Indonesia next week. Modi is expected to be in Indonesia from 6 to 8 July 2026 before continuing his state visits to Australia and New Zealand. Chakravorty explained that Modi’s arrival is a reciprocal visit following President Prabowo Subianto’s attendance at the Republic Day celebrations in New Delhi on 26 January 2025. ‘This is a return visit for President Prabowo attending Republic Day. PM Modi will make a short two-night reciprocal visit to Jakarta and Yogyakarta. From there, the Prime Minister will continue his journey to Australia,’ Chakravorty said during a press conference at the Indian Embassy office in Kuningan, South Jakarta, on Friday. He detailed that Modi’s agenda includes a meeting with President Prabowo at the Merdeka Palace in Central Jakarta on Tuesday, 7 July 2026. Following the meeting, the Prime Minister is scheduled to meet with the Indian community in Jakarta in the afternoon before travelling to Yogyakarta to visit a temple.
